Abwasserbehandlung der Getränkeindustrie

Wastewater treatment in the beverage industry

Beverage production creates wastewater within its own production and cleaning processes at different amounts and quality. High COD (chemical oxygen demand) concentrations and flow rates are indicative. In addition to the average values of over 3,000 mg/l COD and concentrates with up to 100,000 mg/l may occur.

The ever-rising costs for water purification require a forward-looking management of process water and wastewater treatment. A (pre)treatment coordinated with the municipal sewage plant often represents a cost-saving alternative to the surplus charge.

Due to the variety of products in the beverage industry, there is a large variation in the wastewater composition. Organic ingredients, like carbohydrates and sugar, usually form the bulk of the wastewater load. However, these are highly biodegradable.

ACS Environmental offers many years of experience and extensive references for the treatment of wastewater in the beverage industry. The ACS EGSB reactor, with its multi-patented technology, reduces the COD loads by 85-90% and BOD5 concentrations by approximately 90%. The ACS UASB reactor benefits even at low amounts of wastewater, providing an advantage for smaller businesses. The COD load reduction is also at 85-90%.

Examples are:
Soft drinks (fruit juices, soft drinks), spirits (spirits, liqueurs), wine and hot beverages producers (coffee, tea, cocoa), as well as beer breweries and dairies (milk).

Beschreibung

A high performance EGSB reactor with patented technology at Swiss bottlers. Additional requirements were an aesthetic design as well as an absolutely neutral smell, as the plant is adjacent to a residential area. The main components are pre-acidification in the mixing and equalization tanks, an anaerobic reactor and a secondary aeration tank with secondary clarification.
